Emergencies
When disaster strikes, United Methodists start asking what they can do to help. The programs of Global Ministries are involved in emergency response globally, working on long-term recovery as well as immediate relief.
On behalf of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) brings hope and aid in the wake of catastrophes, responding to requests by church partners, conferences, and bishops for funding emergency work all over the world. UMCOR sends assessment teams to determine what areas of need are not being met, and then aid in the form of food, shelter, and medical help is supplied through special channels and partnerships. Caregivers then stay for an extended period to assist survivors in rebuilding their lives.
That's what United Methodists, through Global Ministries, do in response to God's love.
